cpguniverse is an educational, exploratory map of the global consumer-packaged-goods (CPG/FMCG) industry — built to help people new to the space understand the landscape and all the players involved, and to serve as a refresher for veterans. It is operated by Lehmann Group LLC under its Goods Intelligence brand, and reflects exhaustive research and over a decade working across these value chains.
Data & sources
Every figure is independently researched and labelled a "Goods Intelligence estimate." Information is drawn entirely from public sources, including: company annual reports and regulatory filings (10-K, 20-F, statutory accounts), earnings releases and investor presentations, official company websites, and other reputable public references. Figures for private companies are estimates derived from the best available public information. Revenue is converted to USD, and sizing methods differ by tier — retailers and restaurants are shown by sales / system-wide sales, investors by estimated value of their CPG holdings, advisers by estimated consumer-practice revenue.
Some companies naturally span multiple value-chain tiers, sectors, or categories. In cases where the classification was close or unclear, we made a discretionary editorial choice and placed the company in the single tier or category that best reflects its primary role in the CPG/FMCG ecosystem. The underlying business may therefore also fit elsewhere.
The CPG/FMCG landscape changes constantly: companies are acquired, go public or private, dissolve, merge, or reorganize. While we try to keep cpguniverse current, we cannot guarantee that every entry reflects the latest corporate structure, ownership, or financial results. Treat the database as a directional snapshot rather than a real-time source of truth.
Figures are graded by quality (company-reported, third-party estimate, company-disclosed (private), or modeled placeholder). Figures that are not company-reported carry an on-screen caution that they may not be accurate.
In cases where revenue or other figures are deemed unreliable by us or are unavailable, we model or estimate them ourselves and mark them as such for the viewer. The purpose of figures in this application is to provide sizing context for educational purposes only — to help contextualize the relative scale of entities within the ecosystem, not to serve as a definitive reference to be relied upon.
